How to communicate clearly and fluently to any media.
The art of compressing organisational or corporate information into a convincing message and then expressing it pithily in "soundbite" form is an essential skill. The increasing love of the media for these soundbites means we cannot ignore them. That means that we, in turn m get ignored. The increasing shortness of media space forces the discipline upon all of us. Those unable to express complex ideas in short quotes often find themselves on the cutting room floor or the editor's spike.
The right strategic message expressed quotably can make the difference between appearing or not in the news. And there is no question that the media only returns to those who can provide it these soundbites. If you can’t do it you need to learn how through our media training.
Do you need to do media training? We can offer you the training you need to keep all your senior executives on-message and sure-footed on TV, radio and the press.
As you struggle to get the best training for your senior managers who regularly, or in an emergency, have to appear on television, you will be only too aware of how many rip offs and charlatans presently masquerade as media trainers. There are many companies, academics and long-forgotten broadcasters who will take a large slice of your training budget only to waste your time telling you and your managers what they already know. Few of them have recent experience and some have only tiny stints on regional newspapers to boast of. Some have not been in a live studio for years. They can teach you very little.
We don’t use PowerPoint presentations, elaborate mock ups, or give long lectures on how to deliver your messages. We use working journalists who cut right to the quick. We research your organisation in detail, work with you prior to the sessions and study how to launch a PR attack on it. We doorstep, confront, and coax the story out of your delegates as you would expect a working journalist to do. We also provide realistic live-to-studio down-the-line, studio-type and on-the-hoof interviews. No two of our sessions are the same because your organisation is unique – so your training is tailored for you.
Most importantly we offer invaluable tips on how to do all of this and end up on television, on top of the situation and in charge of your brief.
Because we do things in the simple, straight-forward and direct way that most television interviews are conducted (in the real world as opposed to the imaginary world of many “media training” outfits) we don’t need expensive gimmicks or long lists of things to do and not to do. You will find our prices competitive and our services as flexible as you’d expect from a team of hard nosed hacks .We tell it like it is because that’s the only way we know how. Our training covers:
Understanding the Journalist's Approach
Preparing for the interview
When NOT to allow interviews
How to use sound bites
Getting your message across forcefully
What are the potential pitfalls?
Doing down-the-line TV interviews
Live or recorded what the difference is
Bridging answers to awkward questions
